Sorry to be so tardy at framing a comment. I thought this was another great poem, not sure if a shift to another and larger stage or the the ressurection of an older one--or if the poem was lately composed or an older poem lately revised. Anyhow its emotional focus is so steadily rewarding, word choice so quietly resonant, everything a poem by Suzie should be and more so because of its broader stage. Your grandmother in the photo somehow reminds me of 'the new' Suzie, and the British airman has a quietly engaging smile. I learned a lot about you from the Note you recently published. Don't know what to say about me beyond what I think I'm always saying in KR's THE GOAT'S MIRROR. The phrase, by the way, comes from a poem by Marianne Moore, "AN OCTOPUS," later broken into two poems, one still called "AN OCTOPUS" the other "MARRIAGE," both further butchered to avoid giving away too much (is my guess). And probably tired (as I am) of being TOO MUCH, though let me tell you I was happily knocked back on my heels by your bulldozing encomium, "The great KR..." etc. Eager to get a new poem or two posted, and keep lifting a leg in the Substack chorus line. Daughter and teenage grandchildren visiting for a week this coming Sunday.

Thank you! So kind, as ever 🖤 well spotted! Yes it is a poem I wrote earlier this year with noughts & crosses and I never carried a rabbits foot — they were all written together as a trio of sonnet type pieces. I used them to submit to various journals with mixed success! 😂 yes I think I share the same cheekbones as my grandmother! I have some reading of yours to do and Marianne Moore — I am on a train back home to family today so there is time. Enjoy your time with daughter and grandchildren too, KR! 💗
